Race, Religion, Country?

In the Star edition of Wednesday 21 May 2008 it is reported that “Perak Umno chief Datuk Seri Mohamad Tajol Rosli Ghazali expressed shock and disappointment over Dr Mahathir’s decision.”

On behalf of the state liaison committee and for the sake of our race, religion and country, I beg Tun Dr Mahathir to abandon his intention to leave so that we can together strengthen Umno and complete our unfinished struggles,” he said.

This statement lends itself to an interesting question of priorities:

  1. Race, religion, country?
  2. Race, country, religion?
  3. Country, religion, race?
  4. Country, race, religion?
  5. Religion, race, country?
  6. Religion, country, race?

The choice our citizens make concerning these three distinct identities may greatly influence the future political scene in our nation.
