2 Corinthians 7:10

29 September 2009 By Peter Young | TinyURL TM

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. (2 Corinthians 7:10, New International Version)

Just being sorry (especially when we are found out!) is not enough – for we will most probably continue in the wrongdoing and this brings spiritual death (separation from God). Godly sorrow will be accompanied by repentance (a change of mind and heart). This ‘leads to salvation and leaves no regret’.

Jeremiah 23: 23-24

23 “Am I only a God nearby,”
declares the LORD,
“and not a God far away?

24 Can anyone hide in secret places
so that I cannot see him?”
declares the LORD.
“Do not I fill heaven and earth?”
declares the LORD.

(Jeremiah 23: 23 -24, NIV)

What do the Lord’s three declarations mean to us?
