My wife,Ruth and I had the great privilege of serving our Lord Jesus Christ in the years 1964- 1976 with the OMF, in your wonderful country. Returning to Tasmania, amongst other things we were able to begin a Chinese speaking ministry in Hobart which was the first Chinese Church in our state. We are thrilled to find this website having known Peter and Betty Young, in fact they were Ruth's "parents" at our wedding in Teluk Anson in 1966.We are also delighted to find that there are those of your country resident here in Tasmania who are performing one of the greatest things you can do; and that is to pray for your people and its leaders. May God bless you and encourage you in all you do that the Lord's name will be honoured and glorified in our generation.

The young lad Jason who wrote this article had a good response on the original post http://peace4msia.blogspot.com/2009/09/fast-for-nation-peace-for-malaysia-even.html

This shows healthy conversation makes a difference in the long run!

"I just read Erna's article (fantastic story on the perspective from Sabah) and I realised we've been brought up with this stereotype.

Will bear that in mind. Need to kick out old habits from what we've been drilled in through out our educational years in school!

In fact I don't think I'll want to use the words Malay, Chinese and Indian, it is discriminatory to the 'lain-lains' (which I think is discriminatory also for calling them 'others')"

Brian, you are spot on. For those in Peninsular Malaysia, we need to be reminded of that even more consciously. I recall driving on federal highway, the 1Malaysia bill board only showed three ethnic groups ... Chinese, Malay and Indian. The first thought that came to my mind was what you said in your comment.

At the press conference for the launch of Fast for the Nation, Peace for Malaysia, we were delighted to have one rep from Sarawak and another from Sabah join us.

You mentioned Malay, Chinese, and Indian, how about Bumiputra Sabah and Sarawak? Malaysia won't be Malaysia without us. Please take note.
