“L”

10 November 2009 By Peter Young | TinyURL TM

Whenever I am driving behind a car with an “L” plate, I take special care and generally try to move into another lane. Whilst thinking of Learners, Jesus Christ has told us of an important lesson that the world must learn:

“The world must learn that I love the Father, and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me.” (John 14:31)

This lesson is UNIVERSAL, SHORT, SIMPLE AND PROFOUND.

a. UNIVERSAL

It is intended that it should be learnt by the whole world.

b. SHORT

‘That I….me’ – only sixteen words!

c. SIMPLE

Easy to understand – Jesus loves the Father and obeys everything the Father commands him to do.

d. PROFOUND

1. For Jesus Christ

Loving and obeying his Father meant ‘loving us and giving himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.’ (Ephesians 5:2). Jesus ‘died for our sins according to the Scriptures…he was raised the third day according to the Scriptures.’ (See 1 Corinthians 15: 3-8)

2. For Us

We have to learn to ‘be imitators of God therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.’ (Ephesians 5: 1-2)

All through our earthly lives, we must wear this “L” plate on both our front and back in order to remind ourselves of the important lesson which the world must LEARN

  1. Jeremiah Says:

Well said that we are learners of Christ our Master Teacher. But I think Chrsitians do not have the luxury of driving with an L plate. Strangely, we are faced with more erractic drivers, traffic jams and dangerous roads the moment we are born again.
