It is true that there are many things a state government is not empowered to do. There are also many things which, although a state government is empowered to do, it is unable to do without sufficient funding, which is controlled by the federal government.

However there are many things the PR state governments could have done to demonstrate that they are cut of a different cloth. Unfortunately they are struggling with their identity. And they are torn by internal dissensions and jostlings for power. And the bottomline is that they are peopled by politicians weaned on the BN style of racially divisive and self-serving politics.

GE12 took the opposition triumvirate of PKR/PAS/DAP by surprise. They did not expect to win. They simply wanted to rattle their sabres so they put up all kinds of dubious candidates for the elections. But the mood of the people was such that they would vote for any donkey who contested against the BN.

After their historic victory, the opposition parties struggled to work together, managed to cobble together a coalition of sorts and have managed to remain somewhat credible - although that credibility is being stretched thin.

Despite the many faux pas of the PR governments and MPs, the people are still willing to give them a chance. But this second chance must not be squandered. Now is the time for the PR to begin identifying candidates who are there to serve and not to be self-serving. Now is the time for the PR to iron out differences in policy and come up with a good common platform.

Actually, they don't have to go very far. All the three parties, accepted and endorsed the People's Voice and the People's Declaration http://tinyurl.com/2cfwqg so why can't these very documents become the basis for a Common Manifesto?

If the leaders of the 3 components of the PR can bring themselves out of their protective coconut shells and put in an honest effort to serve the people, there is no reason for them not to succeed. The ongoing Voter gets Voter Campaign http://tinyurl.com/yfejd78 is bringing more and more people into the voter pool. With their shenanigans, the BN component parties are driving more and more loyalists away. For their part, the SABM Roadshows http://tinyurl.com/y8mhopc are bringing the message of change to people who may not have Internet access.

We are on the verge of history being made. All we need is a an untainted hero who can command the love and respect of the people across the board and who can lead the people to victory.

Will this person please step forward?
