We (Christians) have been mandated salt and light to this world that takes silence as legal assent to ...whatever, present at that or any moment in the public air. We have been politely and humbly guilty of not being salt and light enough.
But John(the Baptist ) did speak up in the public air against Herod the tetrach,a government official, about his adulterous relationship with Herodias, some 2000 years ago, and lost his head for that. Where do I (we) stand today? Will Jesus mention me to his father or not?
