As on Tuesday 20 May 2010, PKR has lost 5 MPs and 4 state assemblymen since the 2008 general election. It is possible that there will be more losses in the days ahead.
The PKR election director, Fuziah Salleh, noted that people joined PAS and DAP with clear objectives but many joined PKR for various reasons:
“Some joined PKR because they were angry with Barisan Nasional, some for personal interest or projects while others were sympathetic towards Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“That is why they cannot last long in the party. There will come a time when they will be disillusioned,” she said.
“They did not join PKR because they wanted to make the country a better place for future generations or be a vehicle for change. When they face petty problems, they become irrational, especially when they are offered rewards by certain quarters.
“That’s why we need to clean up and consolidate now and move forward,” Fuziah added. (The Star 20 May 2010)
Those who have left PKR have proved themselves to be disloyal to a vast majority of those who voted for them. This may result in many of the betrayed voters becoming disillusioned. It is therefore important that the PKR leaders take immediate steps to select dedicated candidates to fill these vacancies in preparation for the next general election. These new candidates must be introduced to the betrayed voters and must start serving in the constituency for which they have been chosen.
Unless the betrayed voters know well in advance about their new candidate, when the time comes for voting at the next general election, they may, with some justification, be tempted to say: “Once bitten twice shy”.
Then, when they fail to cast their votes, who will be the winners?

Pakatan must set the trend. PR must set the good example of playing by the rules. Fight for ship-jumping after being elected to be declared ILLEGAL! Unfaithfulness and disloyalty are being displayed for all to see, teaching our young and vulnerable that those are “virtues’ to emulate. Our laws must not condone such cheap display of political prostitution before our children’s eyes.We have become a nation gone bankrupt of true/good morals! Time to change our laws on politics and for politicians! Self-centred men and women got elected but they fell flat face down when tempted with big money! Such is the pathetic quality of our elected reps! Shame on them! Men amd women with NO virtues!!!
