On Sunday evening 25 April 2010, the eagerly-awaited results of the Hulu Selangor by-election (or BUY election!) were announced: P Kamalanathan, Barisan Nasional, 24,997 and Zaid Ibrahim, Pakatan Rakyat Malaysia, 23,272 – a BN majority of 1,725 votes. This left many Malaysians rejoicing and many discouraged.
As I write this on the evening of Friday, 30 April 2010, those connected with the Chinese school SJK (C) Rasa will still be rejoicing at the RM3 million dollar allocation, which was promised by our Prime Minister if BN won the election, and which was handed over to them on Wednesday, 28th April.
This must be one of the speediest allocations on record – less than 3 days – and it must have broken all normal allocation procedures as the school was presumably not on the official allocation list.
Whilst there are those who are rejoicing, there are also those who may still be discouraged, and so I pass on to them, and also to myself, a Devotion “FromDaily In Your Image, published by Barbour Publishing, Inc. Used by permission.”
CONSTANCY
Blessed are they who maintain justice
who constantly do what is right
Psalm 106:3
FROM THE FATHER’S HEART
My child, are you willing to stand up for Me at all costs? If so, I will give you constancy and help you to be strong and unchanging, even when it would be easier to give in and give up. Trust Me that whatever I send your way will not be more than you can handle. I will give you the strength to face anything.
FROM A SEEKING HEART
Father, in this changing world, there is no one who is constant and unchanging but You. How I need You to combat my fickleness in the face of difficulty! I’ve been on the edge, almost surrendering in defeat. But then You drew me close again and whispered sweet promises in my ear. Your Spirit reminds me daily that I can choose constancy.
