Long-term service awards – the winner

25 April 2011 By Peter Young | TinyURL TM

Sometimes we read in the newspaper of staff being awarded gifts for 10, 20 or even 30 years of faithful service (I myself am the proud possessor of a plaque from Malaysian Care for 10 years’ service in the 1980s!).

But what is 10, 20, 30 years compared with that of the winner – JESUS CHRIST.

24 but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. 25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. (Hebrews 7 : 24 -25, NIV)

His ministry of interceding for us will only cease :

24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. (1 Corinthians 15: 24 – 25, NIV)

How do we react when we realise the love of Jesus Christ always interceding for us? The last line of a hymn by Charles Wesley would be a possible answer. We are:

LOST IN WONDER, LOVE, AND PRAISE
