GRACE GREETINGS

1. THE INITIAL GREETINGS OF THE APOSTLES PAUL, PETER AND JOHN

a. Grace and Peace (13 times)

Romans 1:7
To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be his holy people:
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

(See also 1 Corinthians 1:3, 2 Corinthians 1:2, Galatians 1:3, Ephesians 1:2, Philippians 1:2, Colossians 1:2, 1 Thessalonians 1:1, 2 Thessalonians 1:2, 2 Timothy 1:2, Titus 1:4, Philemon 3, Revelations 1:4).

When we experience God’s undeserved love, we also experience his peace. Note that the grace and peace come from God the Father, who is also our Father, (that is grace!) and the Lord Jesus Christ

b. Grace, Mercy and Peace (twice)

1 Timothy 1:2
To Timothy my true son in the faith:
Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

(See also 2 John 3:2)

Mercy is added to grace and peace. In 2 John 3:2, Jesus Christ is described as the Father’s Son.

c. Grace and Peace be yours in Abundance (twice)

1 Peter 1:2
who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

(See also 2 Peter 1:2)

Not just grace and peace – but ABUNDANT grace and peace. What a wish!
