16. GOD’S POWER

1. GOD’S POWER DESCRIBED

a) Saving Power
20:6 Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand.

b) Great Power
66:3 Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you.”

c) Power and Strength
68:35 You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people.

d) Power and Wonders
78:4 We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.

e) Endued with Power
89:13 Your arm is endued with power; you hand is strong, your right hand exalted.

f) Power of God’s Anger
90:11 Who knows the power of your anger? For your wrath is as great as the fear that is due you.

g) Mighty Power
106:8 Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, to make his mighty power known.
147:5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.

h) Power of God’s Works
111:6 He has shown his people the power of his works, giving them the lands of other nations.
145:6 They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds.

2. GOD’S POWER DISPLAYED

a) God’s Power in the Sanctuary
63:2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.

b) Formed the Mountains
65:5-6 You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our Saviour, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest sea, v6who forms the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength.

c) In the Skies
68:34 Proclaim the power of God, whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the skies.

d) Split Open the Sea
74:13 It was you who split open the sea by your power; you broke the heads of the monster in the waters.

e) God’s Power Displayed
77:14 You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power amongst the peoples.

f) Tell the Next Generation
78:2-4 I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter hidden things, things from of old – v3what we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us. v4We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
