STUDY 14 – GRACE IN JAMES, 1 PETER, JUDE

1. James 4:6
6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:

“God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble.

God gives us “more grace”. He “opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble”. See also James 5:5

2. 1 Peter 1:10
10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care,

The prophets spoke of the grace that was to come to the Christians.

3. 1 Peter 1:13
13 Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Grace will be given to Christians when Jesus Christ is revealed

4. 1 Peter 4:10
10 Each one should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.

We are to “faithfully administer God’s grace in its various forms”.

5. 1 Peter 5:10
10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

God is the “God of all grace”

6. 1 Peter 5:12
12 With the help of Silas, whom I regard as a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it.

What Peter has written to God’s elect (see 1 Peter: 1-2) is the “true grace of God”.

7. Jude 1:4
4 For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

Godless men have secretly slipped in among the Christians. They change the grace of our God into a license for immorality.
