2 Corinthians 13 : 14

John 14 : 13

The ultimate aim of all that we ask of Jesus in his name should always be that THE SON MAY BRING GLORY TO THE FATHER.

Psalm 32 : 1

We often greet people with the words ‘God bless you’ (GBU). This verse gives us one indication as to whom God blesses.

Luke 2 : 52

When he was twelve years old, Jesus grew in wisdom (mental, emotional, volitional), in stature (physical), in favour with God (spiritual) and in favour with men (social). How are we growing?

Job 29 : 15 -16

Hebrews 13:8

2011 will bring changes in many aspects of our lives. Some of these may not seem too welcome. However, we will not face them alone because Jesus Christ, who never changes, will be with us to see us through the new situations.

2 Corinthians 9:15

‘Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!’ (2 Corinthians 9:15, NIV)

The gift, of course, is Jesus Christ. Other versions of the Bible describe the gift as: ‘priceless’, ‘beyond words’ and ‘too wonderful for words’. And so, each day of 2011, whatever the circumstances may be, our waking thoughts can always be ‘Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!’

During this season of Christmas and the New Year, it is good for us to remind ourselves of both God’s gift to everyone in the world – HIS ONE AND ONLY SON – and of our condition – PERISHING OR HAVING EVERLASTING LIFE.

This Christmas evening event reminds us that we should give glory to God not only with our lips but in our lives. Then, whatever the circumstances, God will graciously give us his peace.
